Increasing Your Resources

Resources have the most important role in the game.  Without any resources you cannot build, train, keep army, or research new technologies.  It is important to know how to increase your resources, and how to get more of each resource when you need them.

Nine Tips to Maximise Your Resources
1)  Good Solid Base:  To get a good solid start with your resources you should build 4 sawmills, 3 mines, 3 quarrys, and the rest of your resource field as farms.  Although food is not a big issue when first starting a new city within a week or two you will be thanking yourself for it.

2)  Gain More Resource Fields:  To gain more resource fields you can upgrade your castle.  Each castle upgrade will give you 3 more resource fields.

3)  Level Up Resource Fields:  You also want to try to get your one of each of your farms, mines, sawmills, and quarries up to a level 9 as soon as possible.  You should also frequently work on upgrading the rest of your resource fields a.s.a.p as well.

4)  Assign Your Knights:  Make sure you have a knight in each of your cities appointed and assigned as a "Steward", and make sure that all of their acquired skill points are assigned to "Resources".  This will increase your knights resources bonus (your current knights bonus can be viewed in your "Castle" under the "Resource Production" Overview).

5)  Continue to Research:  Also, make sure that you are constantly researching Fertilizer, Logging, Stoneworking, and Mining (in your alchemy lab).  These give you a research bonus to the corresponding resource.  Fertilizer = Food, Logging = Wood, Stoneworking = Stone, and Mining = Ore.  Your current research bonus can be viewed in you Castle, under Resource Production Overview.
NOTE:  Having a knight appointed and assigned to "Alchemystic" will decrease your research time.

6)  How to Increase Each Type of Resource:
Food:   Build up farms, Conquer Grasslands and Lakes, Farm Barb Camps.
Wood:  Build up Sawmills, Conquer Woods, Farm Barb Camps, Attack players.
Stone:  Build up Quarries, Conquer Hills, Attack players.
Ore:  Build up Mines, Conquer Mountains, Attack players.
Gold:  Increase Taxes (inside castle), Attack players, To gain gold you can also set your tax rate to 0% and as soon as your happiness reaches 99, go into your Castle and click the blue "Increase Gold" button.  NOTE:  Do not let your happiness fall below 75.

7)  The power of gifting.  Every alliance I have ever ran I always put together a email list to allow members of the alliance to add each other as friends on Facebook.  That way, they can send each other free daily resource gifts.  You can send up to 40,000 of any resource each day to your friends.  Gifts really build up quick, and come in extremely handy.  If you are a serious player I highly recommend adding friends.

8)  Ask Your Alliance:  If you are ever in a dire need of resources you can always ask alliance member for some extra resources as well.  You and your alliance members can transport resources to each other.   This is where your Relief Station will really come in handy by shorting your march time.  If you do not have enough supply troops/wagons to carry the resources you can always choose to reinforce each other instead.  Just select Reinforce, select all the troops you need to carry the resources, select the amount of resources you want them to carry, and hit march.  Once your troops arrive at your alliance members city they can go into their Embassy and send them back home to you, and your troops will leave the resources with your friend.  NOTE:  The estimated march time does not take your current Relief Station into account.  So your march time will appear much longer.  After you select march, look at your troop movement counter on the bottom left corner of your city screen (above the chats) you will see your actual march time there.

9)  Use Production Increasers:  You can also increase your resources by using production increasers (like the ones shown above) that you gain from completing some quest or you win in merlins magical token game.  There are many different production increasers you can gain.  You can also buy them from the shop with gems.  Gems have to be purchased or you have to complete offers to gain them.  You can see your production increasers by viewing My Items, and Selecting the Resources tab.  If you have or won any they will be here above your gifts.  By scrolling over them it will tell you what they increase for how long of a period of time.
